When Meghan and Jon reached out about their Fall wedding at Meridian House in Washington D.C., I was over the moon. Not only did we completely align in terms of our personal tastes and visions, but Meridian House had been a bucket list venue for me in the DMV area for years. 

I’d spent the early years of my career admiring John Russell Pope’s exquisite architectural magic through the frames of Instagram, hoping that one day I’d be fortunate enough to document a love story within Meridian House’s walls. 

Meghan and Jon got ready at a nearby D.C. hotel, where Meghan dressed in her iconic Vivienne Westwood in the company of her bridal party. Veux Beauty gave her a classic, vintage look that accentuated her absolutely gorgeous hair and complemented her bridal look seamlessly. I’ll never get tired of seeing Vivienne’s designs in real life—the structure of her silk is truly sculpturesque and will age as flawlessly as the art it evokes. Meghan was a vision in her bridal gown, with her lace-trimmed veil, Loeffler Randall heels, and pearl bracelet. 

The Perfect Location for Bridals 

The entryway stairwell in Meridian House is the perfect location for many different types of portraits. We took advantage of the contrasting light pouring through the front window and utilized them for Meghan’s bridals prior to the ceremony. The striking light paired with the motion of her dress and the texture of the wall was absolutely stunning—even better when captured on film!

The Dreamiest Ceremony Space

Meghan and Jon opted not to have a first look, but instead saved their first time seeing one another for the ceremony, which took place on the back garden lawn. Surrounded by their closest friends, family, and a harpist and strings, they tied the knot under a canopy of trees and gorgeous afternoon light. Their florist, Growing Wild, created a Secret-Garden-esque ring of fall florals to act as their altar.

They wrote their own vows to one another (which always gets me teary), and I got weepy yet again when the film scans came back and revealed a shot of Meghan wiping one of Jon’s tears away. 

Not a Detail Out of Place

Their planning team, Leigh & Co., worked hard to create a dreamy fall ambiance in the ballroom for their reception, crafting a stunning tablescape in the library that harmonized with the standout green walls and the moody lighting. 

Their autumnal palette fit perfectly within the historic design of Meridian House’s interior, and the reception was something out of a movie. 

A Dance Party for the Ages

Elegance of the space aside, Meridian House is still the perfect place for a dance party. Just across the hall, Meghan & Jon’s DJ curated an upbeat vibe that carried the party well into the night. There’s something that feels so right about blasting Charli XCX’s “Von Dutch” surrounded by flashing lights and French marble busts. 

To top it all off, Meghan and Jon showed the utmost care for their guests by having a custom Uber code for them to use at the end of the night to make sure everyone got home safely. I absolutely love when couples show their love and appreciation for their attendees by truly hosting them at their weddings.
