Nothing quite hits for me like wedding photography on film. They introduce cinematic and vintage elements that you simply can’t get from digital. When approaching Abigail and Harper’s wedding day at the Mason in Dallas, Texas, I learned into film in a way that had so much payoff.

Abigail and Harper designed their wedding around their unique and chic taste, from Abigail’s red nails that matched her ruby engagement ring to the venue itself. The Mason is a historic building in Oak Cliff, renowned for its vintage-style interior and backstory. Previously the Masonic Lodge designed in 1919 by architect Herbert M. Greene, the Mason has now been reimagined as a wedding venue.
With its all-white ceremony space, complete with a fireplace and gold mirrors, and its portrait-perfect “green room,” the Mason is a sight to behold.

Abigail got ready in the bridal suite downstairs with her girls, and I had so much fun capturing the cute little details. She had four pairs of shoes throughout the day, including her absolutely gorgeous white Christian Louboutin red bottoms.

Her bridal look was so stunning and so perfectly suited for her personality—chic, modern, with a vintage touch. I’ll forever be obsessed with the holga shot we got of her nails, ring, and the top of her dress.

Abigail and Harper had their first look in the ceremony space, which was so sweet and intimate. This gave them plenty of time to capture couples portraits in front of the fireplace when the light was soft and bright, and then some fun flash film shots in front of the piano nearby.

We then popped into the green room for some additional portraits, and they really and truly look like the coolest couple alive in these. These are the kinds of photos their kids will look back on and say “wow, my parents were so hot.”

I love tapping into each couple’s unique dynamic when directing them and approaching their wedding day. Abigail and Harper loved editorial, vibey portraits that felt statuesque and reminiscent of classic art. It’s so helpful and intuitive that they selected a venue that supported this vision and direction—it contributes so heavily to the overall aesthetic and eventual end product. Providing your vendors with a canvas that directly correlates to the way you envision your wedding aesthetic is so important.

While aesthetics were obviously important to them as a couple, the main focus for Abigail and Harper were their families. It was obvious throughout the day—from the inclusion of both Abigail’s father and stepfather walking her down the aisle to her sister singing a song during the ceremony, and the speeches given throughout the reception. It’s always so special to see two people be so celebrated by so many.
