Long before she ever picked up a camera, movies stole her heart and shaped the way she viewed narrative and perspective. Growing up an only child, she made connections with other people and came to understand relationships through what she saw in film and television. Stories have been her lifeblood for as long as she can remember.

Originally intent on a career in screenwriting, she pursued a BA in English—a degree that furthered her love for stories, novels, and the human heart. During her time in undergrad, she photographed her first wedding, and a light switched on: she realized that she was able to receive all of the satisfaction she would get from her favorite movies, but in an entirely new, lifegiving way. It opened a world that she had never considered before—she could share in the authentic, invaluable joy of documenting the best day of two people’s lives.

Over 9 years and dozens of weddings all over the world later, Mark is eternally grateful for the opportunity to do what she feels like she is meant to do. She truly cannot believe that this is her job—it’s the greatest gift and has had lasting rewards.

Marquel is a destination film photographer whose love for storytelling is deeply rooted in her lifelong affinity for cinema.
